A vegetable garden project was started in October 2022 at the Atlantic Fertilisers factory outside Philadelphia.

The initiative came about when 5 ladies working in the Atlantic Fertilisers factory together with the Commercial Marketing Manager, Sune Harris, decided to create an opportunity for farm workers and children to plant and eat healthier food.

The Somerset West Village Garden donated seedlings and there was great excitement at the first harvest which included beetroot, spinach, aubergine, and cabbage.

Onions, turnips, carrots, and peas have recently been planted and more nearby farm workers are now getting involved. Although the garden is in its early stages, the hope is to provide food for 35 adults and 15 children.
