Suggested measures to promote citrus fertilisation: Frequent application of organic nutrition is important for the stimulation of root growth and microbial activity. The outcome of these actions is an enhanced reaction to fertilisation with a resultant reduction in cost.

1.  Manure and compost application:

Substantial quantities of manure or compost are often applied without taking the contribution to fertilisation thereof into account. The general experience is that about half of the nitrogen, and all of the phosphate and potassium, applied by these sources, are available to the plant in the first year after application.

2.  Pelletised composted chicken manure:
      Atlantic Fertiliser –
Bio Ganicâ„¢

Chicken litter is composted over a period of twelve weeks, after which it is dried and pelletised free of weeds and pathogens.  Application of Bio Ganicâ„¢ increases soil fertility in general and is nutrition for microbes which further builds soil fertility through its natural activities. Soil structure (friability) is enhanced leading to a healthy regenerated environment overall.

Application of Bio Ganicâ„¢ in conjunction with synthetic fertiliser can also be utilised to boost the growth of struggling trees.  Application of 500–2000 g/tree is recommended, the rate of application being a function of the wetting area around the tree.

3.  Pelletised organically enriched fertiliser:
    Atlantic Bio Enrich9.2.9(20); 10.2.6(18) etc.:

These semi-organic products combine organic and synthetic fertilisers in one, formulated to address the needs of the tree for their specific circumstances (soil, irrigation, and climate) in which it grows.

Using these products ensures the release of 20 – 30% of nutrition over a 14 -21 day period.  This extended time of the release of nutrients reduces the chance of possible leaching of nutrients. Applications range between 200 and 400 kg/ha, depending on the recommended fertilisation program. A second application can be applied for weaker trees if necessary.

Use Atlantic’s organic and enriched products to ensure less frequent application of quality (weed and pathogen-free) fertilisation as well as the handling of large quantities of often raw manures.
