Creating a healthy root system is important when perennial crops are established. A healthy root system will support the development and longevity of the crops.
Soil samples must be taken at various depths and the necessary corrections and tillage must be done before the young trees or vines can be planted.
During establishment, a product like Bio Rock can create a favourable environment for the limited root system of young vines and trees. It nourishes and stimulates micro-organisms to increase their numbers and this contributes to the general health and fertility of the soil. A wide range of natural nutrients and humates are applied in safe and healthy concentrations when Bio Rock is mixed with the soil from the planting hole.
Leading farmers have been following this practice successfully for many years.
Mix the Bio Rock with the soil from the planting hole and use this mixture to plant the young tree or vine. During the growing season, a young tree or vine fertigation programme is followed. This consists of nutrition applied every 14 days through the irrigation system. Regular feeding with moderate, constant concentrates will get the desired results. The soil analysis will determine the products to be used.
Foliar applications can also be done to support the young root systems of the newly established trees or vines. This can also supplement possible micro- and macro-element deficiencies.
Practices like irrigation scheduling, the addition of mulching on irrigated areas, and cover crops can also offer further benefits.
